I Heart Project 119

Hello, loyal readers. Off on vacation this week, so actually looking forward to catching up on some things I’ve wanted to address but haven’t had a chance to on account of that whole “work thing.”
Tomorrow it’s off to Pittsburgh for a mid-week set of Mets/Bucos. Very much looking forward to seeing PNC Park and maybe even attacking a Rothelisberger (or not).
In the meantime, here’s a quick one. Note: also working off a (gasp) dial-up connection, so apologies for the lack of graphic accompaniements.
This is a simple post. The title says it all. There are few new blogs I’m excited about as much as this one. When you have a second, check out Project 119. As many of you know, from my previous post and other ramblings, I’m a huge college football fan. For years, I’ve talked about the desire to spend a fall traveling to all of the big rivalry games across the country – Bama/Auburn, FSU/Miami, Buckeyes/Wolverines, Cal/Stanford, A&M/Texas, Texas/OU, etc. But, alas, it’s been mostly a pipe dream. All talk, no action (although, I’m eager to see Baton Rouge for a battle of the Tigers when Auburn meets LSU on October 20th and expect a dedicated post following that weekend for sure).
My effort, though, pales in comparison to what Dave Farris is attempting. You’ve heard about those folks who tackle all the Major League parks in a summer?Child’s play. Dave is going for all of the college stadiums in D1. That’s right. Forget the rivarly pack. He’s talking all 119. Akron to Alabama. TCU to Temple. Dennis Dodd of CBS Sportsline tells the story here and answers all my burning questions. How long (Dave’s 23, has hit 45 already and is aiming to complete the epic journey by age 30)? No way he has a wife, right? Wrong. He does, and remarkably, she seems to be supportive of the endeavor. Bless her heart.
Anyway, I won’t belabor the point. I’m in awe. And extraordinarily jealous. Aside from the games themselves, here’s someone who did something a lot of us are just too flat-out too scared to do. He has a passion. He’s young. He’s able. He’s going for it.
Good luck to you Dave (and teammate Shawn Wuske), I for one will be tuning in throughout the upcoming season and beyond and looking to share your stories with my small but growing band of readers at the very least. Project 119 is already linked here, and I’m subscribed in the ole’ Google Reader.
Dave and Shawn, pleasant travels from one college football devotee who envies the unbelievable times and memories that surely await you.

I’ve been trying to find a way to contact you dudes to say thanks so much for the nice words. It’s lame to track back to sites with Google Analytics, I know, but that doesn’t stop me. So thanks for the shout out, and anytime you dudes want to contribute about a stadium, send me a line.
No worries. thanks for the response. will be sure to hit you guys up from baton rouge later in the fall. best of luck.
