This is why sports are great. Apparently, there was an attack of the body snatchers at Shea…or perhaps it’s some sort of divine intervention.Whatever the reason things that haven’t happened in months – make that all year – happened today.
They pounded out 19 hits and scored 13 runs. They got involved in a bench-clearing almost/kind-of/not really brawl. John Maine pitched 7 and 2/3 no-hit ball. The team played hard, looked fired-up, confident…pretty much the exact opposite of what we’ve seen the last five days and almost all of September.
When I penned the last post, I was hoping to be able to eat my words. Nothing would make me happier than appearing the fool for jumping the gun. For now, I’ll relish the win and look forward to watching the Jets-Mets alongside one another tomorrow.
As long as you have a hand to play…let’s just hope the Mets don’t end up like Worm.
