Hump Day Potpourri: Marshawn Digs Applebee’s, Injury Secrets, Joe Hollywood and More Free Agent Talk

So, it’s Wednesday. Time for some Hump Day Potpourri. Long day of “attacks” on our last post about top NFL free agents has simply worn…us…out. We’re bloggers. This is our hobby on the side. During a few spare hours a day. Cut us some slack, y’all. And, while you’re at it, peruse a few of the stories that’ve caught our attention from the more prodigious scribes in the sports blogging world over the past few days.
-
Bugs & Cranks takes a look at the top five baseball free agents. Maybe a few of them will be traded over the next few months. Does that mean they were never free agents? Hmmm…ok, we’re over it. While we’re on the topic, look who’s yapping about free agency and the 13 teams he’d considered going to. Is there a bigger media whore than Curt Schilling?
-
The Big Lead calls out Mangini for the cloak of mystery he looks to seductively drape over every player injury…and anything else for that matter. We happen to agree.
-
Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch was already one of our favorite interviews. Now, he’s ripping it up for a pretty bad Bills team and standing up for his new NFL hometown? You’re damn right we like Applebee’s. What’s not to love? Ummm…riblets. Lynch = our favorite rookie.
-
Kissing Suzy Kolber celebrates the joyous Halloween occasion and makes some costume recommendations for their favorite NFL players.
-
In more Halloween-related news, 100% Injury Rate uncovers the surprisingly diverse underground world of athlete Jack-o-Lanterns. Who knew?

Last, but not least, the NBA kicked-off last night. Technically, we’re “fans” of all the majors, but neither Erie’s Scribe or I will be purporting to be anything more than the casual pro hoops observers this winter (at least during the regular season). For those of you jonesin’ for an NBA fix, may we recommend: Free Darko, TrueHoop, Need4Sheed (for our regular readers from Detroit, and we know you’re out there, this is a MUST read) and Hoops Addict.
And, finally, the rumors continue to swirl around Joe Torre heading out west to be the new manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Is anyone else thinking Joe “Not” Hollywood on this one? Maybe my perception is off from listening/reading predominantly NY-area media, but everyone seems to think that the Torre-Dodgers fit just couldn’t be more perfect. Our gut says…not so much…or at the very least…why?
No solid reasoning aside from an opinion that the Dodgers would more greatly benefit from a young, fiery guy who could rattle the clubhouse walls a bit. Tracy and Little aren’t exactly of that mold and neither, for sure, is Torre. Time will certainly tell. Apparently, despite confirmed dollar figures being thrown around this morning (I’d heard 3 years/$14.5M, this thing might not be as far along as reported?
As the world turns…
