Adventures in Fishing: Hook in Face, Rocket Launcher Rod
By Cecilio's Scribe on Jun 11, 2008 with Comments 2
I am what you call city-folk. My longtime running mate here at The Legend, one Erie’s Scribe, is much better equipped to handle a fishing rod and some bait. Suffice to say, I don’t spend a lot of time fishing, watching fishing or paying any attention to the goings on in the world of fishing.
So, it’s seems a rare and quite special occasion that I would get to dedicate an entire post to the sport of fishing. Today is that day.
First, we check out a video courtesy of Getting Reel during which professional angler Michael Murphy gets a hook in the cheek compliments of his trusty sidekick. Watch it. It’s not overly gruesome or gut-splittingly funny, but, for whatever reason, I found myself completely riveted for all seven minutes. And at least now I have can say I know how to remove a fishing hook from my grill…which is nice.
Meanwhile, our friends at Hugging Harold Reynolds share more hot, breaking fishing news with us. We felt compelled to pass it along. This time, it’s a cutting-edge innovation aimed at kids who don’t want to get their line caught up in a bush, or perhaps someone’s face. Somehow I can’t see the purists digging a “fishing rod” that simulates a double-pump action shotgun.
But what do I know? Well, I’ll tell you. I know that I just finished a post on fishing. Fishing. And it happens to feel fantastic.

I came across your sight looking for fishing info. Great video. I have watched it several times now. I fish alot and have had a few hooks stuck in me, but that one looked like it really hurt. I am yet to get one in the face. Thanks for sharing.
