ESPN.com today features a story on disgruntled/enigmatic/hilarious/divisive Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson. In teasing the piece, the front page title link reads: Is Bengals’ Johnson returning? ‘Of course I am.’ The quote was pulled from the following exchange as cited in the piece.
“Am I coming back? Of course I am,” Johnson said while standing in front of his Davie, Fla., home. He had been acting as the editor-in-chief of ESPN The Magazine’s second annual Revenge of the Jocks issue. He made the comments on May 23
As teasers go, it was OK. Heck, it got me to read the story. However, after running through the column I found myself much more intrigued by the following quotes, courtesy of the Ocho Cinco:
“It’s the reinvention of Ocho Cinco,” he says. “I’m dead serious. People need to take me as I am because I just don’t give a [expletive] anymore. That’s how I’d sum up my attitude for the next season.
Talk about a sound byte. Now, that would be a story teaser. Tell me it wouldn’t drive some click-throughs. Ocho Cinco’s Attitude? ‘Doesn’t Give a F Anymore.’ Yep. Now, that would be money. Just sit back and watch the traffic roll in.
On a related note, you gotta love such determination and commitment from one of your team’s superstars. Classic. Ahhhh, to be a Bungles fan.

I’ve sent that exact comment to every Bengals fan I know… followed by (with as much sarcasm as can fit into an email) ‘Can’t Wait for the Season!!’ No really, it’s going to be be a spectacular drama-filled…err.. Football season.
He’s just the perfect teammate. And a hero to every fan of football.
Dude, he’s good, but nowhere near as great as he thinks he is. Jerk.
