The Axis of Evil Has Re-Aligned to its Familiar Position

All is right, and by that I mean horribly wrong, in the world again. The Evil Empire has re-claimed its spot atop the baseball universe, casting its belittling eye upon the downtrodden MLB masses.

I have no desire to talk about this event and will now go about trying to avoid all sports highlight shows, newspapers and online coverage of said occurrence to as great a deal as is humanly possible. Hopefully, in a few weeks it will all fade into the darkness – leaving the New York media ample opportunity to then heap deserved criticism on the Jets and Giants (who’ve managed to escape their real ire to date, thanks to those friendly Bronx Bombers).

It really is brutal. Peter Gammons speaking to how “proud he is” of Alex Rodriguez. Jeter opining on the “long time” it’s been seen the Yanks last championship. Pettite railing on about the bond in the lockerroom and the team’s singular focus since spring training and blah, blah, blah. Why must we continue to endure this?

Anytime a franchise can talk about their "long journey" being 9 years with a straight face while simultaneously having a $200+ million payroll, there is something wrong with the "sport." The world is full of Yankees fans because the "sport" of baseball hasn't given sports fans enough faith to be fans of their local teams.

I scoff at anyone who finds immense joy in this "victory." This series was won on the backs of Indians fans, Rangers fans, Brewers fans, etc. CC Sabathia is not a Yankee. Alex Rodriguez is not a Yankee. Mark Texiera is not a Yankee. AJ Burnett is not a Yankee. Hell, even Hideki Matsui is not a Yankee.

    Enjoy it you spoiled front-runners.
