Navy SEALs earn their stripes through brutal training that typically stretches over 30 months. The Buffalo Sabres are putting prospects attending their summer development camp through just over a week’s worth of training with members of the elite SEAL fraternity. The sessions have commenced bright and early at 4:30 a.m. each morning on Woodlawn Beach outside Buffalo.

The SEALs may be better qualified than anyone to teach teamwork and, in reports on the workouts to date, players have stressed that their mental strength is being tested as much as their physical capacities. Either way, it sounds like an experience that will be appreciated and a unique and effective way to inculcate a spirit of camaraderie, teamwork and toughness.
