Denver Broncos’ Mike Adams Planning “Walkoff” Super Bowl Win
- Updated: January 27, 2014
But the toughest step on the road to the NFL might have been the first one he took out of his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey. So, if the Broncos win, Adams plans to walk back home…to the corner he grew up on…to make a point…to leave it a message…that he made it out…and became a Super Bowl Champion. With all the talk of Richard Sherman and his humble beginnings, there’s been less discussion Adams – a player more likely to be called a super-sub than a superstar. Well, at least until yesterday.
This is one of the few reasons the Super Bowl hype is not entirely regrettable. Those once in awhile stories that make you smile and hope for those connected to them. Mike Adams is now one of those stories. In an interview with the Broncos’ hometown Denver Post yesterday, Adams made his walking”declaration.” It’s since picked up steam on the Web. Here’s what he promised to do should Denver prevail this coming Sunday:
If we win the Super Bowl, I’m going to keep my helmet and pads on and I’m walking home.
The trek is a mere 12 miles, a distance Adams might be able to walk quicker than those Super Bowl fans trying to drive out of MetLife Stadium and back home. Adams isn’t worried about traipsing along the side of the raod. Even if he does draw attention walking on the shoulder Garden State Parkway in full football gear.”
After I get to the IHOP on Route 3, I’ll start hitchhiking…they’d probably think I’m just some crazy person.
Truth be told, we were already pulling for Denver a bit in this one. Adams gives us another reason. I hope he makes that trek. Cleats. Helmet. Pads and all. Now, that would be Super spectacle.
