Derrick Coleman and Duracell send hearing-impaired super-fans to the Super Bowl
- Updated: January 30, 2014
More cool stories from the Super Bowl. The ones that have not a whole lot to do with the action that will take place on the field on Sunday. Derrick Coleman is a fullback for the Seattle Seahawks. If you’ve been paying attention, you know Coleman is the first legally deaf offensive player in the NFL. He’s an inspiration to many and served as the focal player in this great spot from the folks at Duracell who are starting to do some really cool things from a marketing perspective (I say that as someone who works in the field for other “commoditized” brands; well done, Duracell).

OK, so fast-forward. Coleman will play in the Super Bowl on Sunday. He’s also been an inspiration to two Seahawks super-fans who were recently interviewed on GMA after their note to the Seahawks fullback went all crazy-viral. So what does a good marketer do? They jump on an opportunity. Quickly.
Here’s what Coleman and Duracell made happen this morning.
