This is why social media can be fun. It often gives us a glimpse into our favorite teams, players and the “life” of athletes off the field — moreso than would have been possible before. Case in point? The New York Mets NBA-themed road trip.
My Metros take on the Rockies tonight in Denver. Prior to the team’s departure to the Mile High City, manager Terry Collins went all “THEME ROAD TRIP!” The request? Rep your favorite NBA gear on the plane ride over.
The players got into it. So did team personnel and other Mets-related folks, including radio play-by-play man Howie Rose and longtime Mets PR man Jay Horwitz.
Mr. Horowitz takes home to prize for best get-up rocking the throwback Vancouver Grizzlies sweatshirt. Seriously, though, some of these players need to step up their game. You’re professional athletes, get some style, fellas!
