Minnesota Timberwolves Slam Heat’s Harlem Shake
- Updated: March 6, 2013
Know I’m late to this, but it’s my favorite sports video of the week. The set-up. This whole Harlem Shake epidemic is the latest mindless thing to blow up the Interwebs. You can’t escape it. It’s like Call Me Maybe all over again. Ganam-style to its most gag-tastic. My sincere hope is that it’s running its course. Unfortunately, it didn’t escape the Miami Heat, who released their version (complete with LBJ as the King) last Thursday. It has now has more than 34 million views. Thirty-four miiiilion views. In the words of a famous waiter from an 80s classic…I weep for the future.
Annnyyy-way. We can not undo the past. All we can do is hope this all ends soon. Or at least that if other “Harlem Shake” videos are to come that they are of the variety of the Minnesota Timberwolves edition, featuring their mascot Crunch. Kudos to them for the marketing on this as well. I saw the title of this video when it began making the rounds earlier this week. My immediate reaction. Please, no. Not another one. And from the friggin’ T-Wolves?? Yet, I had to click. And, alas, my faith hath been restored. So what if Minnesota then received its own beatdown on the court? In my book, they are at least the winners of this Harlem Shake throwdown (at least philosophically speaking, if not views-wise).
