Oy vey. We bemoaned (not really) the slow death of the NFL Pro Bowl a few months back. The rule changes are all a desperate attempt to save an event that has lost relevance and shall never regain it. Well, now the ole Pro Bowl has done gone out and gotten that much more ridiculous.
Nike, who took over as the official on-field NFL apparel provider this season, has taken it upon themselves to refresh the look of the traditional NFC and AFC Pro Bowl uniforms. Gone are the blue and red of yesteryear (soooo boring). They are to be replaced by bright orange and the “volt yellow” that we’ve come to associate with the Oregon Ducks and their 2,567 different uni combos.
Personally, I’m not against change, nor do I think departing from blue and red is a symbolic and unpatriotic kick to the balls of Americans and their real adopted past time. I just think they’re ugly. But don’t let me be your arbiter of on-field fashion. Take a look for yourself. Just remember to wear shades. It’s about to get bright in here.
