VIDEO: Phish and the Seattle Seahawks come together for WIL-son
- Updated: January 6, 2014
As football fans, we can’t enough of Russell Wilson. From draft day to his rookie season to another stellar 2014 campaign, this guy’s narrative is just incredibly compelling — making him an increasingly rare thing in modern sports — the humble, extraordinarily likable superstar. Things like this only validate what might otherwise seem to be a surface perception.
It’s why Seahawks faithful are nuts about their signal caller. Oh yes, and Phish head man Trey Anastasio. Which explains how an iconic band with a similarly rabid following came together with Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks for what could be one of the coolest new in-stadium “traditions” in professional sports.
Check out the following NFL Films segment on how the “WIL-son” chant born at an MSG Phish show decades ago is now slowly becoming a permanent fixture and salute to Russell Wilson at CenturyLink Field.
Here’s a direct link to NFL Films segment should the YouTube video come down.
Fantastic stuff. We’ll keep an eye and ear out come this weekend as Seattle welcomes Drew Brees and Nawlins to town.
